What is an RV mat?

An RV mat is a large mat/rug that RV owners lay outside of their RV campers on which they place various pieces of patio furniture such as chairs and a table. Not only is it a nice accent piece that looks pleasing to the eye, but it also prevents chair and tables from sinking into the ground on grass surfaces or being unstable on pebbled surfaces.

Another reason an RV rug may be useful is if you are traveling with kids and pets. It will give the kids an area to play on and your dog a place to lay on. Furthermore, kids (as well as adults) can leave their shoes on the mat instead of bringing them inside. This will help in reducing dirt and dust from being dragged into the RV.

While large mats are great to lay out from of the RV you may also want to consider getting smaller mats indoors for high traffic areas such as right in the doorway of the RV, in the kitchen area or where kids and pets tend to make the most messes.

What are camping rugs made of?

Most outdoor rugs are made of synthetic materials such as acrylic, polyester and nylon. These materials are often utilized in the making of RV rugs due to their affordability and durability.

If you live in your RV or take very longs tips it is recommended to get a thicker, sturdier mat that will live up to lots of wear and tear. On the other hand, if you typically do shorter and less frequent trips than your RV rug may not need to be as thick.

Are outdoor rugs waterproof?

Outdoor rugs are designed to endure heavy wear and tear. They are meant to withstand the outdoor elements and are often waterproof.

Do outdoor rugs go mouldy?

Outdoor rugs are typically mold and mildew resistant. However, they can get mouldy if they get wet and you don’t let them dry out before storing for long periods of time. It’s always best to store your mat when it’s dry and clean.

Some household items that people use to clean are dish soap, white vinegar, baking soda and club soda. One product I highly recommend helping with cleaning is from the brand “Simple Green”. They develop high-quality cleaning products that focus on environmental responsibility and human safety. Visit this link to buy their All-Purpose Cleaner

How big do you need your RV rug?

The most important factor that will determine how big of a RV mat you get will be the size of your RV and how much room you must have to store and travel with your rug. If you travel often or live in your RV, I recommend a bigger size as it more practical and comfortable for daily use. Another reason to get a larger rug is if you entertain often and have a lot of people visiting or simply travel as a larger group.

On the other hand, if you’re an individual or couple that typically travels solo then you may only have use for a small to medium sized rug.

RV mats are a great way to make your outdoor living space more comfortable and fun. The rug should be waterproof, easy to clean, and big enough for the number of people you usually have over at one time. The size of the mat depends on if you live in your RV or not, how many people there are in your group and how much storage space is available so that it can be easily transported when needed.
